Online Live Yoga in your own home !

Welcome to our 2nd online live series of classes –

‘Root to Rise’ from my home yoga room to yours lets explore how the deeper dimension of yoga can support us at this time, how these teachings have the knowledge and wisdom to keep us grounded and stable whilst creating space for our mind to drop into an easeful state of unsurpassed calm.

We will learn how this time of change, challenge and unease effects our ability to stay balanced physically and mentally pushing our energy and mind into instability with rising emotions such a fear, anxiety all borne from the sand shifting ground that we are all now walking.

Over the 4 week series I will share with you how the ancient tradition of yoga is fully equipped to awaken our innate intelligence, harness our anxious tendencies bringing about a state of calm and ease.

As practitioners we have a duty to deepen our practice in support of our families, communities and the world at crisis.  We are being called to step forward, so lets cultivate a firm, steady foundation, and a mind that is positive, calm and full of hope.

‘One of the gifts of yoga and its sister science, ayurveda, is their ability to engender in us a growing sensitivity to our own prana so that we learn to move through our lives with steadiness (sthira) and ease (sukha)’

I sit with my hands in ‘anjali’ (prayer) that you will find the courage to join us in practice for the ‘Root to Rise’ series so that you too can experience what it is like to live in a state of stability and calm which is needed now more than ever.

Using Zoom for these sessions will allow for us to enjoy an interactive experience, enabling our yoga community to stay connected, supported, motivated, calm and strong during these changing times.

I am excited to be offering  2 classes per week commencing NEXT week Tuesday 23rd June

Hatha Yoga – Tuesday 6pm

23rd, 30th June, 7th, 14th July

The focus of these session will be to develop strength, steadiness (sthira) and ease (sukha) starting with opening up the feet the very roots of our tree which brings a sense of wakefulness to the physical structure. By establishing an extensive root system through the feet we provide strucual organisation for the entire body.

Learning to stand on both feet with even balance is the blueprint for all Hatha yoga postures finding samasthiti ‘even standing’ or ‘stand with equanimity’ so expect some well aligned standing poses sequenced from Trikonasana through to deeper standing twists like Paravitta Ardha Chandrasana.  Along with some juicy seated sequences where we invite the earth to hold us steady.

All of this of course both lead and supported by the quality of the the breath where we will build, sama vritti breathing, exhale focus and viloma pranayama.

SATYA & Hatha – Thursday 9.15am

25th June, 2nd 9th, 16th July

A complete sensory overhaul, the body is constantly sending signals, pulses, waves, flickers to let you know what you need to do to keep it healthy.  Most of us have no idea that these pulses are flowing through us, most of us have no idea how we feel we just say ‘ok thank you’ – well no it is not ok!   You have the ability to read these sensations and make better choices for your health and wellness.

This class will start with 30mins lying down on your mat working with gravity to ‘let go’ this position in its self reduces fatigue and lethargy from the body.  The rocking, sliding and rolling actions of this practice works to release the ties and tensions the stickiness in the myofacia which reduces the range of movement and causes restriction within your body resulting in poor posture, pain and ongoing frustrations. (I so didnt get this practice when I first started but with over 18 months of dedicated practice I can truly say that I have been overwhelmed by its depth and profound effect it has had on my own health and wellness)

This will be followed by 30mins of asana we will use props to refine our alignment, expect this part of the practice to be strong, focused and deeply grounding it is the perfect complement to the unwinding that happens in the SATYA part of the session.

If you have not practiced in this way before I can highly recommend you will not be disappointed.

Get your yoga space ready

You may need to clear a space in your home, shift the sofa, move the chair, you only need enough room to get your mat down and somewhere you can have a little time to yourself.

Yoga props – time to roll out your mat, grab a brick, belt and for Thursdays session grab a large blanket to cover your mat and bolster too, time to go gather your yoga things and don’t worry if you don’t have all the stuff it really doesn’t matter or if you fancied a treat head over to Yoga Matters they have it all

I have some mats, bricks and belts that you are welcome to if you want to arrange to collect from me.

Set up all your sessions in your calendar and action a timer 30 mins before to go grab your yoga leggings, toilet, drink and get your asana on the mat, I will be waiting for you.

See you very soon.
